Civil defence emergency management is no longer only the responsibility of our local authorities, emergency services and government agencies.  With the privatisation of many of the infrastructure organisations around the world utility and communication organisations have a critical role to play in a civil defence emergency.

Fundamental in being able to respond to a civil defence emergency is having a business continuity capability – how could you help others if your organisation is unable to provide its normal services due to the disruption of the flood, earthquake or other natural (or man made) disaster.

It is particularly important that local authorities and government agencies have a fully integrated approach to business continuity, crisis and emergency management.
